We have been having a little trouble getting organised now there is five in the van. So today we left town at eight instead of seven thirty. It was cold in Ararat - out came the tights, extra tops and long fingered gloves. There would be no 40km/h stretches today as we rode into a gentle headwind for most of the ride. As Ness and I rode down the Avenue of Honour, we were very impressed with the respect given to those who have fallen for the good of the country. About 10 km from Ballarat an unfamiliar car drove past beeping like crazy and then pulled up around half a km down the road. We thought it may have been a road rager and approached with caution. It was Quinna (a former colleague and great mate from St Andrew's), waving his Doggies scarf. What a buzz!!! He directed us into town and joined the team for coffee, while we waited for the press to arrive. Unfortunately, we had to wait for over an hour and a half for them. Dave's parents surprised us with a visit in town. Anne and Pete were rapt to be part of the journey and they followed us all the way to Myrniong. What a lovely little town! We had showers and Ness challenged Billy and Tom to Nintendo DS. Ness was the victor and she let the boys have it. Another Parma for dinner and then off to bed for the last sleep. I'm looking forward to not having to ride such a long way everyday but I have loved every second of the 20 days. Annabelle is just about to deliver the last massage. She has been fantastic - to say the least. The clocks have gone forward; just what I need, an hour less sleep. No internet again - sorry!
