Day 21

Had a quick interview on the Horsham ABC before we left. Conditions were perfect for riding; no breeze and a mild temperature. We made good time to Bordertown and had a bite to eat there. Fully refreshed and replenished we set off for the border to meet my cousin, Cameron or Hermes, who has a work van to follow us into Melbourne. This is great because the amount of traffic has certainly increased, while a few of the truckies' patience has decreased. As the day wore on, the wind picked up slightly and we had a gentle but helpful tailwind all the way into town. The only hiccup was riding into a swarm of bees; fortunately no one was stung, although Annabelle was brutally attacked by a bee during her afternoon run! I have been looking forward to coming to Nhill to see Cam and his family but also because my family were coming to join the team and follow me back to Melbourne. I was really excited to see Mum, Kristine, Bren, Billy, Tom and Alice. After seeing them we headed to the Council buildings to meet the mayor (Rob) and one of the councillors (Joan) and they took us to the council chambers for a lovely lunch and speeches. Thanks Cam for organising this. The people of Nhill have been amazingly generous. The Comfort Inn gave us four rooms for free and the 5 van members all received free meals from Jenny at the Commercial Hotel.
