With the new crew (Ness,Dave and Boxy, plus Paul just for today) we headed to the city to meet David Dall and then ride out through the now infamous Adelaide Hills. If I had a dollar for every time someone said, "Wait until you get to the Adelaide Hills; you won't know yourself." Well, I must say they weren't as bad as everyone had predicted but they were spectacular. Luckily Paul was with us because we would have become lost without his expert guidance. After about 60 km we finished the Hills and headed to some flatter back roads. It was great to be riding with a group for a change. It certainly helps the time go more quickly. Once we joined the highway the wind turned westerly and our speed increased greatly. This turned out to be my longest day (199 km) of the ride, for two reasons. Firstly, because I had measured the distance using the freeway, which bikes cannot use and the backroads add some distance. Secondly, when we arrived in Culburra we couldn't find any accommodation. Annabelle checked her motel itinerary only to find that we were actually staying in Tintinara, a town 12 km away. After bagging her considerably the bikes reluctantly trudged on.In Tintinara we said goodbye to Paul and his father, Tony, who had come to pick up Paul. Paul rode beautifully but I bet he had an ordinary spin class on Thursday. Annabelle cooked up a storm and Boxy discovered a new flavour of chocolate and bought 100 of them- they are all gone less than 24 hours later! In bed by about nine.
