Congrats to all the Hawks supporters, especially Boxy, Koppy, Ali Mong and Pia but most of all to Nick and Mark Evans (Hawthorn's footy manager- Nick's in my class). While the Hawks were revelling in their victory I was toiling into a massive headwind - the wind turned to the south overnight (Thanks Windgods) and it made the going tough all the way to Port Pirie. In Port Pirie we went to St Mark's Cathedral to visit Father Jim Moloney and Father Paul. They welcomed us with a wondeful morning tea. I spoke to the faithful and they collected some donations, which will be sent to HD SA. I also met Denzelle, a young woman with HD; People say I am courageous but it is nothing compared to the people who live with the disease. "Thanks for the generous donation, Denzelle." After about an hour and a half we got back on the road. I hit the wall about 15 km, due to the very nice but bad for cycling food. The wind dropped a little for the rest of the leg and made it slightly easier but this would be my slowest day thus far. When we got into Snowtown we said goodbye to my cousin, Shane who had been with us since Kimba. It was great to catch up with him and the flashing lights on his ute were certainly a help as the amount of traffic increased dramatically. What is a one star hotel, you might ask?? Well, go to Snowtown and you will find out. What it didn't have in its rooms was made up for by the lovely owners who gave us a discounted room and they were wonderfully accommodating. Of course the morbid Annabelle had to investigate the bank (where the barrels were stored). We took some photos only to find out that it was the wrong building!
