Annabelle reluctantly left the seaside haven of Ceduna but staying there longer was not really an option for us. Apart from about 20km of severe crosswinds, today was kind to me. The psyche gets a real boost when you have a breeze at your back. It wasn't quite as good as the Nullarbor but it was still a lot of fun. It was not all riding today, as we visited a couple of schools along the way. Firstly we stopped at Karcultaby; a k-12 school of about 70 students. Sarah (a teacher) and Jordie (a student) organised the visit and we loved speaking to the kids. The older ones asked some relevant questions about HD but the younger students were hilarious. One student thought that the light on the back of my helmet was "awesome". I've ridden over 2100 kms and all he cared for was the flashing light! Jordie has organised a social for Friday night, and all the money made will go to HD South Australia. Our next stop was at wudinna Area School and Kate Schopp (a student) organised some fundraising and the students donated $150; $100 from the secondary students and $50 from the primary. They were extremely receptive and their questions were also entertaining. "Have you fallen off your bike?" and "Has your chain come off?" Priceless!!! What has also been amazing is that I have not had one puncture (touch wood) and my bike has been running really smoothly. Only the most minor of gear slippage. Thanks Topgear. I am really being spoilt on this trip; apart from the cycling I don't do many chores. Annabelle cooked a great rice dish tonight and Mum is always nicking out to the van to get something I need. They have been "awesome" as the preppy would say.
